Square Topsy Turvy Wedding

This cake was the biggest scare for me. The fondant kept on tearing and having issues and then when we started to decorate it decided to make me angry, be difficult and look ugly. BUT finally in the final stages I started to love it. Then I looked at it more and more and I really did love this cake! Almost every cake has flaws so, it's no big deal but I'm glad it turning out so amazingly cool and beautiful!

The top tier was chocolate cake with Raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream w/ MM fondant. I enjoyed this cake it challenged me and I learned from it. Enjoy!

14th birthday

This cake was so much fun! I was kinda worried about it as we were making it but after I got it covered with fondant it was smooth sailing! I loved the colors too! Just all around a really fun cake!

It was a 2 tiered topsy turvy cake. The top tier was vanilla cake w/ banana cream filling and mm fondant. The bottom tier was chocolate cake w/ banana cream filling and mm fondant. Pink and yellow! So, fun! I was told when they served it the mom used dinner plates and the slice of cake filled the whole plate! LOL that's what happens when you do topsy turvy! Good thing it was so yummy!!

Pink & Green baby shower cake

I did this cake back in July and I had lost my camera the weekend before so I had to have the mommy of the baby get pictures of it for me! I just got them, by alot of badgering and I'm sure they think I'm a total pest now!! Anyways, this cake was SO cute and I am so excited to be able to show it off now!

It was 2 tiered, the top tier was white almond sour cream cake with raspberry filling. The bottom tier was carrot cake with vanilla buttercream. Covered with MM fondant! Again, I didn't get to have any! I have never tasted any of the cakes I've made! Maybe someday I'll be able to stay for the shin dig that is going on!!

Christensen Wedding Cake!

I did this cake for Brian and Lerin Christensen's wedding this weekend. It was 4 tiers, the 1st tier was Red Velvet with Whipped Buttercream. 2nd tier was Chocolate cake with Chocolate Bavarian Cream filling and Whipped Buttercream. 3rd tier was White Almond Sour Cream cake with White Chocolate Ganache and raspberry filling and whipped buttercream. 4th tier was Chocolate cake with German Chocolate Ganache and Raspberry filling and of course whipped buttercream. It turned out wonderful! It was soooo heavy and it was a scary hour and half drive! But we got it there safe and sound! I can't say it was stress free. But I'm glad that I got to do it and I learned alot about buttercream!

Zebra Cake

Here is a cake that I did for my cousin this last weekend. This cake was so much fun to see come alive. I was kind of worried when i first started it but it turned out so great!! The cake was chocolate with cherry filling and chocolate buttercream w/ vanilla fondant. Zebra stripes and a bow to top it off. The stripes were very fun to do and the lettering was lots of fun too, once I figured out how to work them!!

Number 8

This weekend I did a cake for my aunt, I ended up only having one day to make it. So, it didn't turn out quite as perfect as I would have liked. But I tried a new recipe that was AWESOME! Almost everything with this cake was new for me, so next time it will be better, I will learn from my mistakes!!

It was a topsy turvy cake. The top tier was Carrot cake( so yummy!) and the bottom was chocolate. I used cream cheese icing. And of course MM Fondant.

Cake #7

I did a wedding cake over the weekend and it turned out SO great!!!! I was so happy with it and the couple just loved it!!! I was so excited to be able to see how pleased they were! The bottom 2 tiers are fake and the top is the actual cake. It was a Cherry chip cake with Cherry Buttercream Icing and Fondant. It turned out gorgeous!! I'm so excited to see what comes next in the future!! I also have to let everyone know that my husband came up with the design of the R on top of the cake... I had a different design in mind and he just had to try this and it turned out the best!! I'm so lucky to have his help and input!

Kylie's Cake

This is my little cousin Kylie's 13th birthday cake. She wanted it to look similar to Heather's cake. I have to say this cake looks a thousand times better!! It's a topsy turvy cake. With Vanilla cake and Chocolate buttercream icing. And MM Fondant and decorations. It was fun and I am getting quicker at doing these cakes! So, that's nice that it doesn't take me 10 hours to make a little cake like this! Colors were Teal ( with Luster dust) and Brown!

I just couldn't decide on a couple pictures. Sorry, my son is in the background eating breakfast in some of the pics! :)

#5 Cake

This cake is for my little boy who is turning 1! I can't believe it! I feel kind of bitter sweet about it. On one hand I'm so excited for him to walk and have fun this summer and grow a great relationship with his brother and on the other, I simply can't believe that he's one!! Anyways, here is his cake!! This was my 5th fondant cake! I can't believe it, it feels like I have been making them forever!! It is chocolate cake with vanilla Buttercream and MM Fondant. With a Baseball Theme! This was a lot of fun to make and it was fast!! I got the idea for it from Pink Cake Box! They have great cakes!f
I must acknowledge that my husband Kevin, made the bats. He is so great! They look awesome!!! Thank you honey!!!

Done!!!

So, I pretty much finished Carmen's cake this afternoon, but the elements didn't turn out the way I had hoped so, I bagged it and went a different direction!! Kevin came home from work this afternoon and helped me with the bow a lot! I really appreciate his help!! So, here is the first version of Carmen's cake! It wasn't totally done, I hadn't put a border on it yet.

Basically the decals on the first tier didn't look so hot. It's alot harder to get them to look good when you are putting them on the side of a cake verses on a board. Also, I think I need to try a different icing for this, my icing kept getting air bubbles and it would mess the design up! This is the finished product!!! I'm VERY happy with it!!!! I think it looks more like her too!!

Carmen's cake

Here are the beginning stages on Carmen's birthday cake! I've had fun doing it but it sure has given me a run for my money. It's a cherry chip cake with cherry vanilla icing. And Marshmellow fondant!

The cakes turned out really well shaped. I got new pans so they turned out sooo even!
The two cakes with their thin coating of buttercream before fondant is put on.
The two cakes stacked and covered in fondant! This was a stressful process. I have never stacked before so it was a new experience! But I think they turned out pretty well!

Becca's Cake

So, as I said on my family blog it was Becca and Kenna's birthday's this last week and Melinda did a great job on Becca's cake! I thought I would post a picture of Becca and her cake on here since it is a cake blog! Not just my cakes but my families too! Melinda does such a great job she totally deserves recognition! So, these are pictures of MELINDA'S cakes. We talked today about going into business together when we live in Idaho Falls. Plus, we would have to add Trina to the list when she comes back from her super long vacation in Hawaii! Anyways, Melinda you rock!!!!

Christmas!!!

I just received a package for a wedding cake that I'm doing!! I was so excited to get it. It took it over a week to get here and I'm dieing to make a cake now! I have 3 cakes to do this month and they don't start til next week, I don't know if I can wait till next week to use my new things! But, I really can't eat anymore cake. I have eaten more in the last month than I can handle! I think I'm most excited about the bench scraper and the new knife. It's blade is 10 inches long!! I know that's probably not very big but it's the biggest knife I've got!! :)

Finished Product!

Ok, it's 11 and I am extremely tired but I needed to post pictures up of the cake that I am most proud of thus far!! The black fondant gave me a HUGE fight. I rolled it out the first time and it just cracked and fell apart all over the cake. So, I throw that away and had to color a whole new ball totally black. I think that once I got to much coloring in it, it just wouldn't hold together. It would just crumble! So, the bottom of the cake was pretty ghetto! BUT I didn't take any pictures of that:) Once I felt like I could repair the horrible spots, I got really excited!!

Heather's Cake

Today is my sister Heather's birthday!! So, I have volunteered to do her birthday cake. I have volunteered to do everyone in my families cakes that are close! That way I can get lots of practice in before I start charging. I actually just lucked out and my friend just got engaged so i am doing her cake!! I'm really excited but now pretty much all the cakes from now until then are going to have some characteristics of her cake! So I can practice!Eyan's birthday cake might look like a wedding cake!! :) Anyways,
Heather wanted a black and pink cake. ( I wanted just black and white because she is the dreaded 30!!!) :) So, we compromised, because pink and black are cute too, plus, I still got my black! :) So, here are the beginning stages of her cake. It is just a single tier cake. I tried to do the topsy turvy design but it's harder than it looks. So, the cake isn't super even. But, I'm hoping the frosting will make up for it.The second picture is the parts for the bow.

Fondant Decorations

As I was sitting around just waiting for an excuse to make another cake, I decided to use up the rest of my store bought fondant. This was the first bow and rose that I made out of fondant. I am sure that they wouldn't have turned out so well because the fondant was really easy to work with. I am sure that my rose wouldn't have turned out half as well if i had used homemade fondant! Now I just have to find a cake to use them with! The rose has luster dust added to it for shimmer and shine!

Valentines Day

This was the first time that I worked with homemade fondant... let me tell you... it's WAY more difficult to work with then the store bought. But it tastes SO much better! I finally got the hang of it towards the end. Now, this cake has some issues. (hence why I'm not ready to let anyone pay for a cake yet!) I only have this old little round cake pan right now and it hasn't been cooking my cakes very well. The bottom of the cakes also turned out really lumpy and weird so that's why you can see waves in the fondant. This cake might look a little bit weird too because I wanted to try out a bunch of different ideas. The cake is a fudge ripple. And the frosting is a cream cheese buttercream forsting. I also used Marshmellow Fondant! This cake took about 4 hours to complete! Even though the cake was frumpy most of the elements turned out well.
